High Newton Trout Fishery
High Newton Fishery is a quiet 10.8 acre reservoir situated 6oo feet above sea level and set in beautiful surroundings four miles north of Grange-Over-Sands, approximately half a mile from the hamlet of High Newton, just off the A590 Levens to Newby Bridge Road. This reservoir is stocked at regular intervals through out the season with rainbow trout and has an excellent population of wild brown trout. Parking is available in the lane adjacent to the reservoir gate. High Newton is open from March the 15 th to December 31 st inclusive (brown trout season is 15 th March to 30 th September inclusive). Fishing is strictly fly only with a two fish limit. Catch and release is encouraged and only barbless hooks may be used. A large number of specimen sized tagged rainbow trout are introduced at the start of the season for catch and release sport fishing. These fish are in addition to the normal stocking program and must be returned to the water alive.
Ghyll Head Trout Fishery
This beautiful 11 acre reservoir commands panoramic views over Windermere and the Lakeland fells and is situated on the Cartmel Fell road above Beech Hill Hotel. There is ample parking in the lane adjacent to the fishery. This popular water is stocked regularly throughout the season and catch and return records are consistently above the national average. Rainbow trout in excess of 8lbs have been taken and this fishery also has a head of native brown trout. Ghyll Head is open from the 15 th March to 31 st December inclusive (Brown trout season 15 th March to 30 th September inclusive). Fishing is strictly fly only with a two fish limit but catch and release is encouraged. Barbless hooks only are permitted. A large number of specimen sized tagged trout are introduced at the start of each season for catch and release sport fishing. These fish are in addition to the normal stocking program and must be returned to the water alive.

Moss Eccles
Tarn Stocked annually this tarn is situated at Near Sawrey on the western side of Lake Windermere. Parking is available in Near and Far Sawrey villages. Access to the fishery is by foot only using the fell track and vehicles must not be taken up or parked on this track. Moss Eccles is a five acre tarn and offers good fishing for brown trout with fish in excess of two pounds occasionally taken. The Tarn is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) owned by the National Trust. The fishery is open from 15 th March to 30 th September inclusive. Fishing is strictly fly only with a two fish bag limit. Catch and release is encouraged using barbless hooks. The nearest permit station is the Tower Bank Arms at Near Sawrey.
