About Us
Sue ran a successful guest house in Hexham, Northumberland for a number of years before we moved to our favourite holiday town of Keswick to run Larry's Lodge, bed and breakfast.
Dave is very keen on fishing, running the website, photography, and walking around the hills and fells of Keswick as well as helping Sue to run the guest house.
Larry was our first puppy from Guide Dogs For The Blind. He retired early because of ill health and enjoyed moving to Keswick. He loved to meet our guests and usually greeted them with his favourite toy. Larry loved all the many walks that can be found just a few minutes from our house. He was a great fund raiser for Guide Dogs For The Blind and enjoyed all the coffee mornings were he worked hard meeting people. We are very grateful for the few happy years that we had with him in his retirement.
Larry had major surgery for a ruptured spleen in August. Our vet carried out an emergency operation and managed to give Larry an extra 3 months of very happy life. Larry died very suddenly late November 2006, he will be sadly missed by all who met him.
Kyle Kyle is our latest recruit in helping to run our guest house. He was rejected from the Guide Dogs For The Blind training program as he felt he didn't want to be a Guide Dog. Kyle joined us in Feburary 2007, at the tender age of 11 months. He's a very friendly puppy and he's part Retriever and part Irish Water Spaniel with a unique curly coat. Over a number of years we have walked 7 puppies and here are some photos.
LarryLarry was our first puppy we walked for Guide Dogs for the Blind(UK). A real easy going, ideal first dog and we were really pleased to be able to take him back on his retirement. There are lots of photos of Larry, do have a look at Jan and May photo pages for a start.
Folly was our second puppySweet little Folly was our second puppy and Larry's half sister. She retired early through stress, we were glad to be able to offer her a quiet home. For the few precious years we had her, she would enjoy coming to the Lake District for walks and holidays.
Pammy, born to be a Guide Dog. She was puppy number threePammy was puppy number 3. Written on her notes is the comment " Pammy was born to be a Guide Dog". A very quick learner indeed. Pammy is now enjoying a busy retirement.

Tumble, was number 4We only had Tumble, for a short time but she went on to graduate and is still a hard working Guide Dog.

Arthur tries to helpLoyal Arthur, is a working Guide Dog somewhere in the North East of England. Arthur has already been back to stay with us for his holidays and is looking forward to coming to Keswick to stay with us for a break.
New Puppy, Babs. She is number 6, at 6 weeks oldBabs was puppy number 6. A very happy but head strong little Lab she graduated with flying colours and is happily working somewhere in Hull. She has already sent us several e-mail's and postcards telling us about her exciting life. These dogs are really well trained!
LassieOur last puppy was Lassie. Larry proved to be a kind hearted, patient teacher. He enjoyed showing her how to play with her toys. Lassie left us in Sept 2004 and we are very pleased to report that she has graduated. Lassie started work at the beginning of October 2005.
If anyone is interested in puppy walking or knows somebody who is keen to try it out you can find your local Centre by logging onto Guide Dogs for the Blind(UK). Call them up and have a chat, they are really nice people to talk to.
